Must See Travel Locations in Texas

Texas is the largest state in the United States. If you plan a Texas vacation, you are in for a treat. The landscape is varied, the history is deep, and there are more things to do than you can shake a stick at. Make sure to see these must-see travel locations on your next Texas adventure.

The Alamo

The Alamo is the location for one of the fiercest battles in history. The story of how famous fighters like Daniel Bowie and Davy Crockett make their last stand in a desperate battle to defend the fort until the Sam Houston and the rest of the army could arrive is a story that every Texas grows up knowing from birth. Although the story did not have a happy ending, the strong determination of the fighters and the spirit of country loyalty makes this story worth remembering. The Alamo today is a memorial to that battle, and much of the original structure of the mission is still intact, although it is surrounded, bizarrely, by downtown San Antonio.

Texas State Capitol

Johnson Space Center

Any space explorer will love the experience of the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The Space Center features real items from space exploration, including moon rocks, old space ships, and used space suits. The museum offers many activities for guests of all ages, including fun space-themed games and activities for children. In the gift shop, you can purchase space-themed items, including freeze-dried foods just like they eat in space.

Texas State Aquarium

For one of the most expansive aquarium experiences in the United States don’t miss the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. This coastal aquarium offers a view into the lives of many varieties of fish and other marine life. Most of the fish are gathered right from the Texas coast. For even more educational fun, the aquarium also offers guided tours of the facility. This aquarium is so large; it may take a full day to explore.

One thing that makes this capitol tour so entertaining is that not only can you view historical documents, portraits, and rooms, the capitol is also home to current political figures. If you come on the right day, you may even get a chance to see Texas history in the making.

Even if you cannot see all of these places in one visit, they are worth planning additional trips. Texas offers some of the best entertainment in the world and there is something for everyone wherever you are.
