It is also the financial hub of China, so you’re bound to see plenty of amazing people and sights. It is perhaps the charm of this exciting and vibrant city that many tourists miss. The Bund is perhaps the most immediately recognized area of Shanghai. This is a waterfront promenade area that features some of the most beautiful and some of the most iconic buildings in the region. It can be quite pleasant to stroll along here on a clear day, despite the intense hubbub of the locals and the action on the water.

Of course, Shanghai has plenty of accommodation to choose from. As a business center, you can expect to find high-tech luxury apartments for rent. These can be found both inside and just outside of the main city area. As a traveler or vacationer, you may be more comfortable in a hotel in Shanghai if you plan to stay for a few days. Choose one that offers a range of culinary delights so you can explore the taste of the region too.

You may have chosen to visit Asia and China for a taste of the culture. Shanghai is very modern, but there is still evidence of much more traditional ideals too. Just take a walk through the Yu Garden. This botanical beauty reflects life in China dating back to the Ming Dynasty. It is sculpted and tended well, and you can easily forget that you’re in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world. You can find everything that represents the old Chinese traditions including elegant ponds, gorgeous bridges, and amazing structures and buildings. Bring your camera!

Xintiandi is the place to go for shopping. There is a wide range of fashion stores and boutiques to explore. You’ll also find plenty of jewelry and charms to fall in love with. It’s one of the rare car-free areas of town, so you can enjoy browsing without the worry of traffic. This is also a good place to come for an evening out to enjoy local entertainment and fine food.

Perhaps one of the best places to spend a full day in Shanghai is the Shanghai Museum. Some of the artifacts here are incredibly rare and beautiful. Best of all, entry is usually free, so you can take it all in without worrying about the cost. You can find art, jewels and all the history and culture you need in here. Check out the Jade sculptures!

Whatever you’re keen to see most in Asia, do make time to stop off in Shanghai. You can find a lot of China’s history and culture in evidence without missing any of the charms of the region. Enjoy.

China

These days, China is a very modern country. And this is something that you can see if you visit any of its major cities. Beijing, China’s capital for more than 800 years, and Shanghai are the two best examples of this. But the history of the country is always combined well with these modern aspects. The Great Wall is always an important visit, but there is much more than that. Ancient temples and buildings are littered throughout the country, and some of them are very impressive indeed.
