Unplan Visit to Namyang Shrine

My friend Emelyn accompanied me to renew my passport in our Philippine’s embassy in Seoul. We ate lunch at the KC’s Filipino store afterwards with a fellow countrymen we met outside of the embassy. With nothing else to do we ended up in Suwon, I am planning to visit Hwaseong Fortress  but our fellow countrymen told us to try visiting Namyang Shrine.

We are almost lost as we couldn’t  find the way to the shrine gladly Emelyn and our fellow countrymen exchange numbers so with his help we found our way to the shrine. The shrine was a large complex as we have no knowledge about the place we just walk and snap few pictures, our countrymen just told us that on this shrine we could find how the seven saying was portrayed.

Today I searched about the importance of the shrine and I found out that is one of the places where large number of Catholics martyred during the Great Byungin Persecution. The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Namyang is also known as “Rosary Hill,”.

Namyang was designated as Holy Site on the feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary on October 7, 1991 to  memorialized their martyrdom as proof of faith.

The highlights and symbols of Rosary Hill are the ever-merciful appearance of the Namyang Holy Mother’s statue and the 20-Decade Rosary Road which is a lovely path surrounded by trees and shrubs.

Hi Anna, sorry but I already forgotten how did we end up there. All I remember we took the subway from Itaewon then bus to Suwon, I have forgot the stop and bus number, I forgot to write about those details in this blog a few years back too. 🙁
